Sermons of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)
Part 1 of 3

by Rami Mahmoud Elsawah

In 630 C.E., prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led an expedition to Tabuk. At Tabuk he delivered a classical address which provides glimpses of his message. After praising Allah T'ala and thanking Him, the Prophet said:

Verily the most truthful word is the Book of Allah. The most trustworthy bond is the word of piety. The best religious community is the Community of Ibrahim. The best example (Sunnah) is the example of Muhammed.

The noblest speech is a word spoken in the remembrance of Allah. The finest narrative is the Qu’ran. The best of affairs is that which is pursued with firmness.

The worst in matters of religion are those things that are newly introduced without sanction (Bid’ah).

The best of the ways are the one trodden by the prophets.

The noblest death is the death of the martyrs.

The worst blindness is straying from the path after receiving true guidance,

The best of actions is that which is beneficent.

The best guidance is that which is put into practice.

The worst blindness is the blindness of the heart.

The upper hand (the hand which gives charity) is better than the lower hand (the one which receives the charity).

The little that suffices is better than that which is abundant and makes one oblivious to God.

The worst apology is that which is tendered when death stares one in the face.

The worst remorse is that which is felt on the Day of Judgment.

Some people do not come to Friday prayers except with hesitance and delay, and some of them do not remember Allah except at long intervals and without full devotion.

The tongue that is addicted to lies is the worst of false actions.

The best sufficiency from worldly possessions is the contentment of the heart.

The best provision for life’s journey is piety (Taqwa).

The greatest wisdom is fear of Allah, the Mighty, the Great.

The best thing that can be instilled in the hearts is faith and conviction (al-Yaqin). Doubt is disbelief.

Wailing over the dead is an act of the days of ignorance. Deceit is the road that leads to the Fire of Hell.

Intoxication leads to burning in the Hell-Fire, obscene poetry is the work of the devil, and intoxicants are the mother of all evil.

The worst thing unlawfully eaten is the property that belongs to orphans.

Blessed is he who receives admonition from others.

Each one of you (ultimately) resorts to a space of four cubits (the grave) and his affairs are then transferred to the Hereafter.

Things can be judged only by their end or final conclusion.

The worst dream is a false dream

Whatever is in store is near.

To abuse a believer is an act of transgression (Fusuq). Taking up arms against him is disbelief. To backbite him is disobedience to Allah. Inviolability (and sacredness) of his property is like the sacredness of his blood.

He who swears by Allah (falsely) in fact tells a lie against Him. He who forgives others is forgiven by Allah for his sins. He who suppresses his anger, Allah rewards him. He who faces misfortune with perseverance and patience, Allah compensates him. He who strives for fame (to show off) is disgraced by Allah. He who shows patience and forbearance , Allah gives him a double reward. He who disobeys Allah, Allah will make him suffer the torment of the Hell-Fire.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah.

I seek the forgiveness of Allah.

Here's the Arabic. There's no mention as to whether or not this is a weak or strong hadeeth.

I need some suggestion for some fun over the weekend. We are planning to go out with the cousins but are unable to find a good clean Muslim event to have fun at. Any suggestions?

Asalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,

Br. Muhammed Minshawi from Brooklyn will be coming to MCNJ in Woodbridge, NJ to speak about "Sacrifices in Islam"

Come and see our brand new masjid and make some rak'ats. Two ISRU shura members have already prayed here...and you might see some old faces (perhaps even an old Amir) if you stop by.

8:00pm after Isha.

Insha Allah.

As Salam 'Alaykum,
Pls, I'll still like to revisit the hadeeth of the khutbah of the Prophet at Tabuk. Other than it can be found in Za'ad al Mahad, we'll still benefit from the status of it's authenticity.
