why do i get the feeling that no one's going to get this?
christianity and judaism are not the middle path that Allah (ta'ala) talks about, just to get that out of the way.
on November 8, 2005 8:37 PMBtw, I thought christianity WAS straight up shirk (man-worship)...why is it not placed in the shirk lane?
on November 9, 2005 9:23 AMChristians may be mushrikeen but they are considered people of the book.

on November 9, 2005 3:28 PM"Christians may be mushrikeen but they are considered people of the book."
Yeah I know, but I am sure we both agree that the mushrikeen are those who commit shirk. And so, as people who commit shirk, they should be in the shirk lane.
(just trying to argue about something so that br. hassan doesnt feel like this edition of 'fire' didnt go undebated)
on November 9, 2005 3:50 PMThe Quran does catagorically differentiate between the Nasara and the Mushrikeen in the following verse.
"Certainly you will find the most violent of people in enmity for those who believe (to be) the Jews and those who are polytheists, and you will certainly find the nearest in friendship to those who believe (to be) those who say: We are Christians; this is because there are priests and monks among them and because they do not behave proudly." (5:82)
Let us not try to argue something for the sake of argument and besides, this is a useless debate anyway.
The point of the post is that people will end up compromising on anything, even tawhid and shirk for the sake of false unity. Despite clear evidence from the Quran and sunnah, people will continue arguing that Christians might go to heaven.
There are somethings we should compromise on for the sake of unity but Tawheed is not one of them. What differentiates a Mumin and a Mushrik can never be sompromised on.
on November 9, 2005 4:54 PMUhhh, shouldn't Islam be in the middle and judaism and christianity on the sides?
Or is there something wrong with my picture?
on November 9, 2005 9:36 PMInshAllah all of our brothers and sisters studying in Jordan are ok

"A number of Israelis staying yesterday at the Radisson SAS were evacuated before the bombing by Jordanian security forces, apparently due to a specific security alert. They were escorted back to Israel by security personnel."
