A Heartfelt Prayer.

The pleas of the homeless
Ring in my ears
The cries of the children
Express their fears
A prayer for survival
Is all that resounds
Their futures and dreams
Now turned upside down
The scent of death
Hanging in the air
The weeping of many
Telling of untold despair
What to do?
Where to turn?
They move in a daze
In a disbelieving haze.
How would I have felt?
I cannot comprehend
If my ‘home sweet home’
Was now ruined beyond mend
How would I cope?
I dare not ponder
If that corpse floating around me
Was MY mother or father
Why have I been saved?
It is only ALLAH’S grace
Or else that could have been me
Without a smile on my face
I am a Muslim
I feel for those in pain
I hear your cries
They are not in vain
To the victims of Katrina
I send a special prayer
May The Most Merciful help you
and always keep you near.
Hadhrat Abdullah ibn Amr (Radhiallaahu Anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said, ‘The Raahimoon (those that show mercy on others), Rahmaan (the Most Merciful, i.e. Allah) will have mercy on them. Show mercy to those that are on earth, He who is in the sky (Allah, the Most Merciful) will show mercy on you.’

I just wanted to say.. that was really beautiful. I think you should send it out to websites that are working to look for lost ones, or relief efforts in general.. because for someone who has lost all hope.. words of comfort from one person.. stranger or friend... can make all the difference.
You have a very poetic touch.. it is seriously beautiful.
