Homework Assignment #3
(Lost Qu'ran)

by Rami Mahmoud Elsawah

Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, (Inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved!
(Surat Al-Buruj 21-22)

Book 004, Number 1726:

Ibn Mas'ud reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Wretched is the man who says: I forgot such and such a sura, or I forget such and such a verse, but he has been made to forget.

Book 004, Number 1727:

Abu Musa al-Ash'ari reported Allah's Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying: Keep refreshing your knowledge of the Qur'an, for I swear by Him in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad that it is more liable to escape than camels which are hobbled.

***********************************************

As a sheikh once told me: 'If you leave Qu'ran, it will leave you. Leave it for a day and it will leave you for a week. Leave it for a week and it will leave you for a month. You must study Qu'ran every day."

Many people do study Qu'ran every day. Unfortunately I don't. So this is advice for myself first and foremost.

This week's assignment, insha Allah, is for us to review all the Qu'ran we have either forgotten or are somewhat shaky on. By this week insha Allah we should all be confident in reciting all the suras which we have memorized. Even if you just forgot a tashkeel (small vowel), these things are very important in the recitation of Qu'ran.

I apologize for the week delay in the assignment. Insha Allah, I hope you have used that extra time to complete the first two assignments. Insha Allah we will have seen a doubling of books in the masjids.

May Allah forgive us and give us rahma.

Assalaamu alaikum my brothers and sisters in Islam. It is a gift from Allah that I had the opportunity to view this website Hidayaonline. I am from the Island of Trinidad and Tobago and the South America's (this is based on my ethnicity and heritage). Enough said.

Reading the Articles on this website have made me more aware of my duties, responsibilities and enlightened me on the real path to Allah and His Messenger SAW. May Allah reward you in your efforts and Bless Muhammad SAW and his family and his companions and forgive us and grant us Jannah by his infinite mercy.

wise words there masha Allah.May ALLAH make us among the true People of Qur'aan, who raed Qur'an sincerly for Allah's pleasure.Ameen

From Sahih Muslim:

Book 004, Number 1722:

'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The example of a man who has memorised the Qur'an is like that of a hobbled camel. If he remained vigilant, he would be able to retain it (with him), and if he loosened the hobbled camel it would escape.

Book 004, Number 1724:

'Abdullah reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: What a wretched person is he amongst them who says: I have forgotten such and such a verse. (He should instead of using this expression say): I have been made to forget it. Try to remember the Qur'an for it is more apt to escape from men's minds than a hobbled camel."

Allahummah Zakkirnaa Maa nuseenaa.Ameen
