Needless to say I am intrigued and curious as well with the start of this post.
Moreover, I completely agree with you that all the delectable and insightful articles have stopped in their tracks. We need continuation to all those wonderful characters and their respective stories, Insha'Allah!
on March 26, 2005 9:39 AMMarriage Joke of the day.
Marriage completes a man. After marriage, he is finished.

Good Job, Rami. I wonder what Talal is up to. Also, I wonder if he made the tea himself or if he made and/or expected his wife to make it for him and serve it to him. :P
OMG, i deleted everything. i'm sorry. please feel free to repost any comments that were deleted.
ok. i think i got it.
ibtisam was talking about the utter un-islamic-ness of the MSA EZ conference. she saw "islamic flirting." she said that she probably noticed it because she was because she was a hardcore "salafi" who spoke in a very harsh manner with guys, especially muslim brothers. girls screamed whenever a muslim celebrity got on stage, in just the same manner that kaafirs do. she saw a whole bunch of corny video presentations, including one scene with toilet humor.
everyone was immature, and she's only 22.
she also talked about how she cried a lot (nouman ali khan's speech)
she liked ingrid mattson's take on marriage.
she liked abdul malik's speech. she thought it was probably because he was black and she grew up among blacks in chicago.
talal brought up a video presentation about the nj da'wah conference.
ibby (i think) said that maybe the scrubs trailer, the one with the ahmed bukhatir nasheed, should have been shown.
i said 1) part of the akhlaaq of the woman is that she speak to men in harsh tones, and it's quite sisterly of ibtisam to do that.
2) talal was trying to plug his video. he did the nj da'wah conference one.
did i miss anything?
on March 27, 2005 9:12 AMas salaamu alaikum,
...is there anyway the nj dawah video can be put up here?
it was made by hidayans afterall...
on March 27, 2005 11:09 AMAsalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,
Everyone should check out this very good article written today in the op/ed section of the Star Ledger...especially sice it is written by a non-muslim.
http://www.nj.com/opinion/ledger/perspective/index.ssf?/base/news-0/1111902704157750.xml
Here is a clip:
"What exactly do we in the West, and in America in particular, mean by individual freedom?
If our exported popular culture (our television shows, movies and music) is any indication, individual freedom is precisely the "secularism, materialism, and unchecked individualism" that Muslim leaders decry. Nor are Muslim leaders alone. Religious leaders of virtually every faith would object to our popular culture, because it is a culture designed to foment what almost every religious tradition in the world was founded to curb: boundless desire. "
Opinions? Comments?
Wasalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu
Again, in the words of Br. Dawud W. Ali "you call it freedom, and I call it anarchy".
This "freedom" as they call it has indeed gone way too far. You can't turn on the TV anymore without finding a commercial with alf naked women on it or people indulging in sinful acts. And you don't even have to have a TV, it's available on billboards, magazines, everywhere you turn. I really do feel bad for our Muslim brothers; to avoid seeing a women's awra, they'd have to be blindfolded, even while driving) (not that I like seeing myself, mind you, it's just not as haram for me, though I am aware of the navel to knee ruling).
I wonder what will happen in the years to come. Anarchy, though I'm not a social studies expert, Im sure has to fall eventually. I just wonder what will happen to get to that point, how it will fall and what will be done to pick up the pieces. Will women go back to dressing conservatively? Will abstinence makes its way back as a primary means of birth control and STD avoidance? Will the selling of alcohol be moderated more?
Or will the day of judgment come before any of that?
on March 27, 2005 4:10 PMassalaamu Alaikum,
just about right,
I liked Imaam Abdul Maalik's speech regardless but I can understand him more deeply because I grew up in Chicago.
Thank you for recapping everything I said in such a nice manner, alhamdulillaah, although I dont know what you mean with "she was" a hardcore salafee, okay so I really have to become one, now.
Although, I wrote pretty negative things about the un-islaamicness of the conference or some elements, note: even with the hijaabs, jilbaabs, 12 inch beards, thobes, turbans, the "light" attitude of the teenagers, 20yr olds were present and gender interaction was not very islaamic.
Some very positive aspects as well to:
on March 28, 2005 8:38 AMpositive aspect of the conference: spiritually uplifting, and the people treated me soo well there. I think I am someone spoiled by everyone in all honesty. My parents spoil me, my friends, my neighbor, and then Muslim strangers as well too, sister Justoju, other sisters, maybe the brothers as well too(sorry sister, okay sister, just a little more patience, sister, etc).
It is mind boggling to me, how nice people are to me. I dont deserve it and sometimes I feel there is a greater purpose to my life, like someday, I will not let these people down and one day I will do something great for them, become a pillar in Islaam that they can be proud of.Even if this is just my imagination.
for now I will continue to write on hidayaonline.com
(lol!) :)
Alhamdulillaah ala kulli haal
Salaam Ukhti:
I agree that the social and moral decay in our society is really on a roll. If everything continues in the same pace, things and acts of objections today may become mundane and harmless a decade from now.
This is one Huge Jihaad for all of us, living in this country, individually and collectively. BUT, I know that the Muminoons and the Muttaqoons in our society will remain blessed and protected and each of their act will be rewarded many folds (insha'Allah) in their struggle of maintaining and propagating Islaam to everyone around them.
I know, the path is difficult and hazardous, Yet the only path for salvation in this life and hereafter is according to The Qur'aan and the Sunnah of RasulAllah (sal-lal-la-hu-wa-sal-lam).
May Allah keep us as Muslims in this life, and may our death be on Islaam...Ameen

You are a muslimah, Alhamdulillah, and Allah blesses you with respect of your peers and others around you.
AND may ALLAH Bless you with opportunity and the ability to discharge lofty endeavors for Islaam and Muslim Ummah by His Maghfirah, Rahmah and Rada in this life....Ameen
AND yes, we will cheer and support you when ever you need us!!!
on March 28, 2005 9:28 AMAsalaam Aleikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatu,
So any other comments/opinions on the Star-Ledger article.
I don't agree with all the things that are in there...but the general opinion is right on.

Salaam:
Insightful article which asks some deep and thoughtful questions about the current paradigm of Americans and USA in general.
One of the things that is manifesting itself (in front of our very own eyes) is that after the initial shock and grief of 9/11 tragedy, a healthy number of Americans intellect are questioning ideals, values, morals, freedom and policies of USA in contrast to Islaam.
Presently, this analysis is in its infancy, as both sides are "new" to each other. There is huge amount of skepticism and anxiousness (and rightly so) from both sides. However, I am pretty sure, Insha'Allah-(BiIznillah), that America will embrace and realize that True Islaam makes complete sense as ISLAAM ascertains the idealistic and realistic values that any endearing society or nation must have to be successful, not for a century or two, but for a millennium and more!
Alhamdulillah! (All praises are Due to ALLAH!)
"Temptation Jezira" what you got a bunch of abaya clad women to choose from, lol!
