The Just Ruler, Part1

by Rami Mahmoud Elsawah

He weeps, the King for he knows that his people are treated unjust. As slow drip descended into sadness from his eyes for he knows he is a Mallik unjust.

He saw his people die... at his hands of course, because who else is there to blame.

The Mallik unjust; he did not please Allah. He thought his power was from his people yet he gave them none. So he took it back, Allah that is. He took back what was only his.

He weeps again because if he only knew The crimes he committed to himself against his soul.

Yet today he weeps and his tears drip redemption.

A Mallikul Dhullim once saw before himself a Ruler Unjust deserving the harshest of Deaths.

"This has gone too far I have done too much This man kills his people He is a Mallik Unjust. By Allah in whose fate is in our hands, I shall kill him tomorrow, but not by my hands."

He took a step from the throne and never looked back. Walked out to his people and so adressed them himself: "I am an Unjust Ruler, I put my fate in Allah. Step forward if you wish to take what is rightfully yours."

Little did he know Insha Allah, That he had saved his soul. For the flesh they tore apart tore every sin he had earned, into another step further from fire Shadeed.

He left nothing for himself He had given all his wealth to his people, told a Mallik unjust that he was a terrible person, then gave his life to Allah the fairest of fair. To be dealt with justly, by justice from the most merciful Judge.

Question: Why are there only like 10 people (tops) that post on this site? Where is the rest of ISRU?

Assalam-o-alaikom.
In the beginning this site was popular and lots of people used to post (check the archives) but later the excitement dwindled down and we have only a select group left. Mashallah we have a very active organization as far as ISRU is concerned so maybe people are busy doing other stuff and they have no time to post. I am only inferring here since I cannot speak for all of ISRU.

This site is affiliated with ISRU but the best part about it is that other people on the Internet keep finding this website through searches (ask Talal). The benefits of this site are not just limited to ISRU but they are for the wider Muslim Ummah. Even if only 10 people post here, it is very good sign that have active discussion no matter how small scale. We must learn to walk before we can run so Hidayaonline is (for me at-least) an attempt to walk. So even if it is only 10 of us, Inshallah we will grow and new people do keep coming in (you and Rami are prime examples of this). Give Hidaya sometime, you never know what will happen in the future. Besides, those who post here are very good at marketing this website to others (Wink Wink Hassan).

Nah, you got it all wrong Faisal... people are just laaaaaaaaaazy. Only the select elite who truly care take the intiative to post on Hidaya :) It is the enlightened thing to do.

Howyever, Faisal is right about this not being an ISRU-only thing, so if you knowz peoplez, invitez them peoplez to contribute.

What made people post in the beginning was that never had the Ummah been exposed to such powerfulk writing before Hidaya :)

From the Little Reminders of brother 'Abd aka Arif Hussein, to the striking truth of sister Seeker aka Saima Iqbal, to the literal Fire of our brothers Gillette aka Hassan Khaja and Oh Shick aka Ameer-ar-rutgereeen aka Ali Ibn Mas'ood, to the prose and poetry of sister Nadia Khan, everything was amazing, mashaAllah. THen a server crash in February put an end to things, and a couple of writers had to leave... and it was up to the mighty WASHING MACHINE to resurrect things, alhamdulillah.

such is the story of Hidaya.

I was just trying to make an excuse for our brothers and sisters st ISRU, they are not all bad. Besides, that statement sounds very self-praising. Not that you are doing it but anyone who claims he is enlightened is far from it so don't you think we should refrain from making such a statement?

Why is it that the writers left? Why didnt they keep posting? The Greater Question: What creates loyalty to a website? What are we missing today?

Is Hidaya's writing 'less' powerful today and THATS why the people who were there in the beginning arent there today? I havent read all the archives so I cant do a comparison, so you all know better...but there must be a reason behind the fact that there are only a total of 10 posters...

...time for some critical unbiased thinking...

And Brother F, I believe brother T was just using that "enlightened" statement to add a bit of humor to his post. I dont think he expected anyone to think he was serious.

You raise a valid point. Why is it that Hidaya can't retain its readers? I don't know the answer but the path to success requires one to be steadfast. Maybe people , after the initial excitement, lost interest. The key is not doing a whole lot at once and then forget about it. One must keep on trying.

Anyway, perhaps I didn't understand brother T's comment sister B. Thanks for bringing it up. My apoligies brother T.

That just about sums up why writers have had to leave. Good ol' life getting in the way.

As for readers, Hidaya really wasn't having a problem holding on to its readership. It was just taht silly little crash that killed the month of February. Alhamdulillah... things have gotten much better as far as the regularity of writing, so I can honestly tell you that this month has been Hidaya's best in terms of audience.

This site will inshaAllah grow as more and more visit and see things they like; passing it along to others. And bothering those you know in person always help. I know that's how we got a bunch of people to visit in the beginning.

AssalamuAlaikum,

You are saying that there arent too many writers/columnists but a lot of readers...but what I am wondering is WHY arent those readers commenting? I mean, commenting is a convenient activity for those of us who have commitment and laziness issues--and you really dont need to wrack your brain trying to write a rival to Ihya Ulum uDin. So tell me oh readers of Hidaya: Why dost thou not comment?

Oh Schick's aka Ali's and my articles might've scared people off. Go to the "Fire" section and read "This Place" and "Let's Rally for Nothing..." I think commenting dropped off after that.

because dear bint abbas we like to hear your rambling thoughts, your witty remarks, your quotes from oh so awesome books- basically bint abbas its you you're holding us back, ok fine just me :-p

ok ok really its cuz i have absolutely nothing profound to say BUT i have been babbling to the masses about hidaya online.

note- masses = my 2 bosom buddies that know everything about me

oh wait i dont have anyone like that in my life, never mind...wait this is becoming a post about me i must stop now.

wasalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullah

p.s. bint abbas i like you :)

yeah, I have no idea who Jannah is. I guess I just have that affect on people.

Kidding. How can I forget the chick that swooped in and stole half of my sunday school class?...

Bro. Gillette, I dont think you and Bro. Ali scared people off. If anything, I think your writing probably made Hidaya more interesting. The concept of the 'Fire' section is genius mashaAllah. It has to be something else. I had a thought, could it be that people were more comfortable commenting under pseudonym and then kind of stopped commenting because they felt pressure to reveal themselves?

Assalaamualaikum,

I feel to the contrary about commenting on the site. I agree brothers and sisters should write as many articles as possible, but I believe excessive commenting (aside from positive reinforcement) that is not contributing any thoughts or ideas is actually a hinderance to the site. Their is still a fine line between constructive discussion and idle chatting be it in the student center or on the website.

Bint Abbas,

Please don't measure your audience by the amount of comments you see. Some people are shy, some lazy, and some would just rather read then make their presence known. And I'm sure there are other reasons out there. But one thing is for sure, hidaya does attract new readers. I hadn't seen you here earlier, neither had I seen sister Saima Ali, but you're here now. Maybe the future will bring more, Insha Allah.

salaam everyone,

i know it's been like a week since someone posted to this article, but i was just reading thru the comments and thought i would put my 2 cents in as they call it...
firstly, i started medical school so i really didn't have to write, i apologize...and then i had to drop the semester and come up b/c of my father moving on to a better life, thus the change in name as well..
as for commenting/reading/whatever...i think it has been amply stated...some ppl just like to read, some ppl comment and others can do both but like waj said, too much commenting for the sake of writing and not having any constructive to say is not recommended
